Ordering

Do you sell ready-made furniture, or is everything custom?

Both. The showroom always has finished pieces ready to take home, and we build custom pieces to your exact size, wood, and base. Call ahead and we'll tell you what's on the floor right now.

How does a custom order work?

You tell us the piece, rough size, wood, and the style of base you like. We match a slab from our warehouse to your piece, and we can send you a photo of it before the build starts. Then we quote the finished piece and the build begins. Start here.

Can I pick my own slab?

We usually do the picking for you. Matching the slab to the piece is our craft, and every slab here is one of a kind. If you want to see it first, we can send a photo of the slab we have in mind. Builders buying slabs outright are always welcome to come dig through the racks in person.

How long does a custom piece take?

Once a kiln-dried slab is settled, a table takes about three weeks of production: epoxy work, surfacing, sanding, and the finish. Some pieces run longer and some less depending on the piece and the season, so call us and we'll give you an honest estimate.

How much does a table cost?

Every piece is one of a kind, so pricing follows the slab, the size, and the base rather than a set list. Once the slab is settled we give you a firm quote for the finished piece. Call us with your rough size and we can talk ranges.

The work

What is a river table?

Two live edge slabs joined by a river of hardened epoxy. Many of the pieces that leave our shop are river tables, and many others use epoxy a different way, filling the knots and cracks in a single wild slab. Either way it can be tinted nearly any color, and it can even hold personal touches: one customer sent sand from the creek on their own property to set into their table.

What woods do you work with?

Redwood, buckeye burl, claro walnut, black walnut, myrtle, maple, ambrosia, and Arizona juniper we harvest ourselves in the high desert. If you have a species in mind, ask. We also buy and supply specialty lumber.

What kinds of bases can I choose?

Sculptural root bases, a range of metal bases we stock, juniper stumps and branches, or a wood slab base built from the same tree as the top. We'll help you match the base to the slab and the room it's going in.

Do you make anything besides tables?

Plenty: rustic chairs and benches, floor lamps and chandeliers built from juniper and burl, and taxidermy mounting bases. If it can be built from a beautiful slab or root, ask us. See the gallery for recent pieces.

Do you sell slabs for DIY projects?

Yes. We sell unfinished live edge slabs and we plane slabs flat and smooth for your own builds, including slabs you bring us.

Delivery & visits

Do you deliver?

Yes. Our trucks run to Ohio about every three weeks and to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania about every six, and our pieces have found their way to homes and businesses across America. Call us and we'll figure out delivery together.
